I was tasked with supporting the development of the TJ 8.0 Heritage Runner in collaboration with Tommy Hilfiger’s global footwear team. My role spanned CAD updates, library management within PLM systems, and providing input during fit and wear testing. Story:
For Tommy Hilfiger’s 35th anniversary, the TJ 8.0 Heritage Runner reimagined the brand’s bold 1990s sneaker archive for today. Limited to 1,985 individually numbered pairs, the release honored the founding year while celebrating the brand’s heritage with a fresh, modern lens.
The design merged premium leather panels with breathable mesh underlays, accented by Hilfiger’s signature red, white, and blue palette. Key details included an embroidered Tommy Jeans flag on the quarter, a molded flag logo on the midsole, and a metallic-woven lining that added subtle texture and sheen.
Engineered for daily wear, the shoe paired heritage-inspired lace loops and padded collars with a lightweight EVA midsole and high-abrasion rubber outsole for lasting traction. Balancing retro inspiration with contemporary performance, the TJ 8.0 Heritage Runner stood as both a collectible statement piece and a versatile sneaker that captured the brand’s American sportswear DNA in its purest form.
