I contributed to the redesign of one of Coach’s best-selling backpacks, refining proportions and features to meet the needs of today’s users. My role spanned silhouette updates to fit larger laptops, ergonomic research to improve comfort, and hardware design development, while owning Tech Packs, BOMs, and CAD drawings to ensure material and construction updates were executed with precision.

Story:

The League Backpack was first introduced in 2021 as a versatile design known for its sporty aesthetic, practical layout, and refined leather craftsmanship. In Spring 2023, the silhouette was reimagined to meet modern needs, updating proportions, materials, and functionality while retaining the backpack’s balance of everyday utility and timeless style.

Key updates included the introduction of new material options, such as signature jacquard fabric and refined calf leather, broadening the range of textures and finishes. Custom-branded speed clips were designed through new molds, enhancing both utility and visual identity. Hidden magnetic closures refined the front pocket for a more streamlined look.

The redesign also improved ergonomics and everyday functionality.. A scaled body fit allowed for greater comfort, while a dedicated interior compartment accommodated laptops up to 16 inches. With these updates, the League Backpack evolved into a more modern, functional companion that reflects Coach’s commitment to thoughtful craftsmanship.
